GENERAL
What is indie makeup?
"Indie" is short for independent: brands not owned by major cosmetics holding companies and not answerable to shareholders optimizing for mass sales. That commercial freedom changes what they can make. A mainstream brand needs products that sell at scale across every market and demographic. An indie brand does not. The result is a category built around specificity: multichromes, holochromes, hyper-saturated single shadows, limited palettes with colour stories you will not find at Sephora. Products made for the customers who want them, not the broadest possible audience.
What brands do you carry?
The full list is on the Brands page. We carry 20+ independent makeup brands from the US, Europe, Asia and Oceania. The range covers eyes, lips, face, and tools β palettes, loose pigments, eyeliners, mascaras, lip products, highlighters, blushes, and brushes across the catalogue. Multichromes, duochromes, holochromes and specialty finishes are a through-line across most of it.
Are these products vegan and cruelty-free?
All products we carry are cruelty-free. Most are vegan β check the Product Details section on each product page to confirm for a specific item.
When will you get the palette "X"? How can I stay in the know without checking your website every day?
The easiest way is the "Notify Me" button on the product page. We put products up before they arrive, so you can sign up early and get an email the moment something lands β we use it for restocks and upcoming launches alike.
We're also very active on Instagram with announcements, new arrivals, and sneak peeks β it's a great way to stay in the loop and see what's coming. And if you subscribe to our newsletter, we'll send you the news directly. Heads up, though β newsletter emails sometimes land in spam or promotions, so keep an eye on those folders.
Can I read reviews before I buy?

Do you have gift cards?
Yes. Gift cards are available in the store.
Where do I find ingredient lists?
Full ingredient lists are on each product page, under the "Please read before purchasing" tab in the Ingredients section.
Do you have sales?
Yes, twice a year. We run a Black Friday sale in late November and a summer sale around Canada Day. Exact dates shift slightly year to year. We announce both on Instagram a few days ahead, and newsletter subscribers get an email when the sale opens.
Do you have promo codes or first-order discounts?
Between our two annual sales, the prices on the site are the prices. No welcome offer, no first-order popup, no codes floating around to hunt for. Indie makeup runs on tight margins, and ongoing discount codes only really work when the base price has been set high enough to absorb them. That's not how we want to price things.
SHIPPING
Where do you ship from?
We ship from Canada. From a cozy little town called Squamish in the heart of Beautiful British Columbia.
What shipping options do you support?
UPS, Purolator, FedEx, DHL, and Canada Post. You can see all options available for your shipping address at checkout.
How much does shipping cost?
Rates vary based on your postal code, chosen delivery speed, and shipping company. At checkout, you will see all available options with approximate delivery times and rates.
How fast do you ship your orders?
All orders are shipped in 1β2 business days maximum, but we usually do a parcel run every day at around 2 pm Pacific time. So, if you ordered early in the morning, chances are your parcel will get out of the door the same day. If you ordered after 2 p.m., it's likely to go out the next business day. Orders made during the weekend are usually shipped on Monday. So, if you live in the Lower Mainland (Vancouver and around, and even Victoria) and made your order in the morning, there are chances to see a box with black and red tape on your doorstep as early as the next day!
How do I track my order?
Tracking information is included in your order confirmation email for all carriers we ship with.
What about duties? I got burned by duties once or twice when I tried to buy indie makeup.
If you are in Canada, there will be no extra fees after the order is placed and shipped! Canadian duties and handling fees are already paid by us when we import products into Canada. All our orders are shipped from British Columbia, and there are no customs involved for domestic orders.

Is there any shipment protection? What happens if my order gets stolen or damaged in transit?
Most available shipping options include shipping insurance with coverage up to C$100. You can check which shipping options do and which don't in the Shipping Insurance section of our Shipping Policy. You can also see a Route Package Protection checkbox in your cart β it is added to all orders by default at Route's rates (usually a few dollars). You can decline Route protection in your cart by unchecking the checkbox, but we highly recommend using it. Route covers the product's total amount and your order's shipping cost. They are also by far quicker and easier to deal with than shippers' insurance. We pack all our orders carefully to avoid damage in transit, but sometimes shipping can be extra rough, or packages might be lost or stolen in transit β Route helps protect the parcel in these cases.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship to the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, New Zealand, France, Poland, Japan, and many other countries. Enter your address at checkout to see available options and rates. If we don't ship to your country yet, checkout will let you know.
Will I pay duties or customs fees on international orders?
It depends on where you're ordering from.
- United States: Duties and taxes are calculated and collected at checkout. Nothing extra will be owed when your order arrives. What you pay at checkout is what you pay, period.
- All other countries: Import duties, taxes, and handling fees are set by your country's customs rules and collected at delivery by customs or your carrier. The amount varies by country and order value. We recommend checking your local import rules if you're unsure what to expect. We do not misrepresent order values or mark shipments as gifts on customs declarations.
Will my international order survive the trip?
We take packing seriously, arguably too seriously. Every palette gets wrapped with heavy-duty protective material designed to absorb impact, and our boxes are built to handle the kind of abuse parcels encounter in transit. One customer told us our packages look like they could survive being dropped from an airplane. We take that as a compliment.
That said, international shipping is a long journey. Route Package Protection is added to your cart by default, and for good reason. It covers loss, theft, and transit damage and is genuinely easy to deal with if something goes wrong. We really do recommend keeping it on. If you choose to remove it, any damage or loss in transit falls outside what we can help with.
PAYMENTS
Can I pay in installments?
Yes! We offer two buy now, pay later options at checkout β Sezzle and Shop Pay Installments. Both let you split your order into smaller payments. You'll see the available options at checkout.
RETURNS AND REFUNDS
I bought some makeup from you, and I think I have an allergic reaction to it.
Unfortunately, it is impossible to foresee individual reactions to products, and even the most popular ones might still cause allergic reactions in some users. Sadly, due to the hygienic nature of cosmetics, we cannot accept returns or exchanges or issue refunds. Please read the ingredients list carefully before placing the order to ensure the item you buy contains no ingredients you know you're allergic to. If signs of irritation appear, it is advisable to discontinue using the product immediately. We would appreciate any information on reactions to products so we can share it with the brands to potentially consider in their manufacturing process.
Didn't like the palette I received. How can I return something?
Please be certain of your purchase, as all sales on cosmetics are final. Due to the hygienic nature of cosmetics, we do not accept returns or exchanges or issue refunds. Please buy responsibly.
I made a mistake in my address. What do I do? What happens now?
Please get in touch with us as soon as possible. We will do our best to amend it, but there is no guarantee: once the order is processed for shipping, we cannot change or cancel it. If the parcel is returned to us by the shipper, we will cancel the order and refund it, less shipping costs and a $20 CAD restocking fee, as long as it is unopened. Unfortunately, we cannot refund the order if it is not returned or returned unsealed, damaged, or incomplete.
