Freya's Words:

Yin & Yang is a core concept in ancient Chinese philosophy. Everything in the universe exists in contrast, yet in balance. That’s why this palette is inspired by the black and white of the Taiji symbol. Cool and warm smoky tones come together to create a soft, dark kind of beauty.

I’m Chinese, and the Bellabeautebar team is American. We have different skin tones and speak different languages. But we share a love for makeup, and for Chinese culture. That’s how this collaboration came to life. We exist as individuals, yet through this palette, we connect, influence, and complete each other. This is also a reflection of Yin & Yang. Yin within Yang, Yang within Yin. The world is not made of isolated things, but of relationships.

The shade names are in both Chinese and English, all rooted in the Yin & Yang theme. Taishu 太素 refers to an ultimate state of pure simplicity. Qi 炁 is the invisible force that forms everything and keeps it in constant flow and change. There’s also a pair of concepts from philosophy and physics: Entropy 熵, the tendency of everything to fall into disorder. Negentropy 负熵, the force that maintains structure and form. If you’re interested, you might discover more meanings hidden in the shade names.

The cover art was created by my designer. At the center is the Taiji symbol, with traditional Chinese bronze patterns at the base. Next to it, 阴阳（Yin & Yang) are written in seal script.
The square seal also features ‘Yin & Yang’ in the same style.

On both sides, there’s a phrase: “天地玄宗，万炁本根”. It means that all things in the universe originate from the Dao, an unseen and profound source, and that all transformations of Qi are rooted in it.

Creating this palette has been a truly happy experience for me. Working with BBB has been smooth and enjoyable, and I feel proud to share Chinese culture with the world through color and makeup.
